FACTS
- The Callaway package (RPO B2K) was a factory dealer-ordered option costing $26,995. This was on top of the $36,900 Corvette sticker price. This is the only time in Corvette history that a specialist manufacturer was entrusted with producing a factory high-performance option (RPO)
- The package includes over 2000 proprietary upgraded and CNC machined metal parts
- The Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette is “quite simply one of the most powerful automobiles ever certified for sale by the EPA. Its turbocharged and intercooled 5.7-liter V-8 puts out a staggering 382 horsepower—more power than any U.S.-spec model currently sold by Ferrari or Porsche. In fact, we know of only one U.S.-market car that can top the Callaway’s formidable power rating: the Lamborghini Countach, which belts out 425 hp” – Car and Driver 1989 road test
- The B2K twin turbo package derived from Callaway’s “Project Sledgehammer” Twin Turbo Corvette, which officially recorded a mind-blowing 254.76 mph top speed in 1989 at the Ohio Research Center. Even more impressive: the same car was driven to and from Ohio from Connecticut on public roads, as this was an emissions-compliant, street-legal vehicle with factory options found on everyday Corvettes (air Conditioning, radio, etc) and a 12 month drivetrain warranty!
- This earned it the title of the fastest street car in the world – a record it would hold unbeaten for 10 years
