- The 1995 1/2 – 2004 generation represents the first Toyota truck bearing the Tacoma name. It was known as the Hilux to the rest of the world
- 4×4 Tacomas can be identified by their 6 lug wheel pattern (2WD models came with a 5 lug pattern)
- V6 Tacomas in this spec feature a GVWR of 5,104 lbs and a 1,679 lb payload capacity. When equipped with a tow package, the Tacoma features a 5,000 lb tow rating
- The Tacoma’s frame is mostly fully boxed (only the section after the front leaf spring mount bracket is a c-frame). Other features include a welded steel cab with a double-walled bed
